Conditions Treated

Our eyes enable us to marvel at the world we live in and that’s why caring for them is so important. Unfortunately, our eyes can be vulnerable to all kinds of ailments. If you are an Alamo Heights, TX, or San Antonio, TX, resident who is currently plagued by vision issues, we at the San Antonio Eye & Face Institute can help.

The first step in treating an eye issue is identifying it. We offer a comprehensive array of eye care services.

Cataracts

A developing cataract can greatly affect your quality of vision. Leave it unaddressed and you may soon only see blurry blobs in front of you. At this point, researchers are still looking to better understand cataracts in the hopes of preventing them. In the meantime, you need to act if you already have a cataract developing. We can prescribe you eyeglasses that will help improve your vision. If you eventually need to undergo surgery, we can assist with that as well.

Corneal Disorders

The disorder could be something minor like dry eye. If so, you may be able to use eye drops to address that problem. The disorder could also be something more serious like a scratched cornea. In that case, surgery may be necessary to replace your damaged cornea. Regardless of the treatment your eye needs, we have you covered.

Macular Degeneration

As you grow older, you may start to experience vision loss. The culprit behind your vision loss could be none other than macular degeneration.

Since your genetics can help determine if you will be affected by macular degeneration, it is crucial that you get checked regularly. Head in for regular check-ups around age 50 so you can catch macular degeneration before it becomes a problem. Catching the condition early may give you a chance to slow its progression.

Styes

A stye is a symptom of an infection that primarily affects the eyelid. Apart from being unsightly, a stye can also be painful. It may even affect your field of vision.

Styes will usually heal on their own, but you can speed up the process by using a warm compress.

If you believe that the stye has stayed for too long, you can approach us, and we’ll prescribe medication for it.
